Morehouse School of Medicine hosted the Fourth Annual Soledad O’Brien Freedom’s Voice Awards Gala Honoring Ludacris October 6, 2011 in Atlanta.

The awards gala recognized Ludacris for his continued commitment to community service and the Community Voices program. Funds raised for the gala will benefit the Morehouse School of Medicine and Community Voices who’s goal is to give a voice to the underserved communities in the national debate on health care disparities in this country. The BET Hip Hop Awards aired last night and this year’s Cypher was once again the highlight of the show. Freestyling it old school just doesn’t get old, especially seeing the up and coming rappers representing with the most successful rappers – together like friends on a corner.

The entire Cypher is must-see-tv (which is why the video already went viral), especially our favorite segment where Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, & Reek da Villain perform with new rapper, 2 Chainz. They took turns styling over the beat to James Brown’s “The Payback”, and it was incredible! We’re also especially proud that DJ Premier rocked SOUL by Ludacris headphones in all the segments!

Giving back is good for the SOUL. And October 1st in North Carolina it was great for entertainment too, especially if you love basketball. Chris Paul hosted his first charity NBA all-star event that turned into a crazy dunk contest with Lebron James, John Wall, Dwyane Wade, Keven Durant, Mario Chalmers, Rudy Gay, Josh Selby, Kyrie Irving, Steph Curry, JR Smith, & Carmelo Anthony.

SOUL by Ludacris was a proud sponsor of the sold-out event to benefit Winston-Salem State University (where the game took place) & Paul’s CP3 Foundation, which focuses on enriching communities of Winston-Salem & New Orleans.

What brings us together here at SOUL is our appreciation of innovation and technology, but our passion is music. A legendary pioneer in technology, Steve Jobs’ influence on music will inspire generations forever.
